Eddie Vedder – Betterman – Live at Letterman

Dave Letterman is hanging up his boots from his popular show.

Letterman has been inviting musicians to perform for the one last time on the great platform.

Eddie Vedder played Betterman from Pearl Jam alongwith the studio orchestra.

I loved this version.

Check it out.

Pearl Jam – Comeback

I just realised it’s been a long time since i featured a Pearl Jam track here. And since i was missing someone today, this featured track perfectly fits the bill.

Comeback is a track written by Eddie & Mike and is from the self titled album which was released in 2006.

I am sure you will like it. Have a listen.

Lyrics

If I keep holding out
Will the light shine through
Under this broken roof
It’s only rain that I feel
I’ve been wishing out the days
Oh, oh, oh come back

I have been planning out
All that I’d say to you
Since you slipped away
Know that I still remain true
I’ve been wishing out the days
Please say that if you hadn’t gone now
I wouldnt have lost you another way
From wherever you are
Oh, oh, oh, oh oh come back

And these days they linger on
And in the night I’ve been waiting
For the real possibility that I may meet you in my dreams
I go to sleep

If I don’t fall apart
Will my memory stay clear
So you had to go
And I had to remain here

But the strangest thing today
So far away and yet you feel so close
And I’m not gonna question it any other way
There must be an open door
For you uhh uhh uhh….to come back

And the days they linger on
And every night when I’m waiting
For the real possibility that I may meet you in my dreams
Sometimes you’re there and you’re talking back to me
Come the morning I can swear that you’re next to me
And it’s okay

It’s ok
It’s ok

Oh, I’ll be here….come back, come back
Ahhhhh I’ll be here…come back, come back
Ohhhh I’ll be here…come back, come back

Whoooo whooo whooo whoo
Whoooo whooo whooo whoo
Whoooo whooo whooo whoo
Whoooo whooo whooo whoo

Guaranteed – Eddie Vedder (Into The Wild – OST)

Guaranteed is a track from Eddie Vedder’s first solo studio album, which also is the OST of Into The Wild. It is also said that the film director Sean Penn himself wanted Eddie to compose the soundtrack. If you have not seen the film, then i would suggest you to watch it. It will change your worldview.

Pearl Jam – “Black” September 2, 2012 Made in America Festival

(This post is dedicated to my friend who once asked me – Why Pearl Jam Black? What is so great about the song?)

I have been listening to Black almost everyday for 8 years now, i have observed two things.

1 – Mike McCready’s guitar solo is different everytime. I wait for him to play the guitar solo and every time he amazes me with his improvisation.

2 – Eddie’s freestyle ending.

This is not a great video (below). But the song changes once McCready starts his axe work. Lookout for Eddie’s freestyle.

Follow Pearl Jam if you still haven’t.

They are a grunge band with a difference.

They are an inspiration.

Have a great Sunday.

Eddie Vedder – Hard Sun

Into The Wild is the first solo studio album by Pearl Jam vocalist Eddie Vedder based on his contributions to the soundtrack for the film Into the Wild.  Hard Sun was originally written by Gordon Peterson who performed under the name of Indio on the 1989 album, Big Harvest. The song simply means that life itself is hard, we live in a big world with a big hard sun, but if we have someone to walk with us, someone who cares and understands us, its that much easier..

when I walk beside her
i am the better man
when I look to leave her
I always stagger back again
once I built an ivory tower
so I could worship from above
and when I climbed down to be set free
she took me in again

there’s a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world

when she comes to greet me
she is mercy at my feet
when I see her pin her charm
she just throws it back at me
once I sought an early grave
to find a better land
she just smiled and laughed at me
and took her blues back again

there’s a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world

there’s a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world

when I go to cross that river
she is comfort by my side
when I try to understand
she just opens up her hands

there’s a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world

once I stood to lose her
when I saw what I had done
bound down and flew away the hours
of her garden and her sun
so I tried to warn her
i’ll turn to see her weep
40 days and 40 nights
and it’s still coming down on me

there’s a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world

there’s a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world

there’s a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world

there’s a big
a big hard sun
beaten on the big people
in the big hard world
