Fast Car – Tracy Chapman

Tracy Chapman comes from a different world. I think so.

This lady has been a honest musician. Not selling herself to the commercial music business, Chapman has written music which is ageless. Today as i sit in my office and log on to Youtube, Fast Car is the song which came in to my mind. And it has been on repeat mode since then.

Pink Floyd – Louder Than Words

Possibly the last ever new song by Pink Floyd, “Louder Than Words” released last week under the album “The Endless River”.

Gilmour & Mason give tribute to their late friend Richard Wright by releasing this album.

Much of the tracks are instrumental. But “Louder Than Words” has Gilmour giving a final goodbye to Wright.

On A Good Day – Above & Beyond – Oceanlab Feat. Justine Suissa

Ocean Lab was a vocal trance group formed by Paavo, Tony, Jony & Justine Suissa in 2000.

“On A Good Day” is a track which i first heard in 2010… it has stuck on my head ever since…

Whoever has been reading my blog over the years, knows this that i am a huge fan of Above & Beyond.. I like them because these guys know songwriting, they can produce and write a complete track on their own..no need of softwares and other electronic stuff to make music..

For me its more about the music making process in analogue than the production stuff in digital..

Tristate and Oceanlab is my best albums from the trio.. I am gonna catch you guys live Goa this year..

Blue Sky Action..

Foo Fighters – Something From Nothing

Seattle rockers Foo Fighters have released the first song from their 8th Studio album – ‘Sonic Highways’. The track is called ‘Something From Nothing’.

On 19th October 2014, Foo Fighters posted a lyric video for ‘Something From Nothing’.

The video is shot at producer Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio Studios. I love the lighting done throughout the video. The song progresses to a heavier hook after the 4 minute mark.

Lyrics to “Something From Nothing”

“Something From Nothing”

Give me a flammable light
I’m cold as a match ready to strike
So here I go

Here lies a city on fire
Singing along
The arsonist choir
Now here I go

It’s starting with a spark
And burning to the dark
Now here I go

There is a river I’ve found
Into the wild
Under the ground
So here I go

A button on a string
And I heard everything
Now here I go

Oh sweet ignition be my fuse
You have no choice you have to choose
Bid farewell to yesterday
Say goodbye I’m on my way

But in the end we all
Come from what’s come before
So here I go

Oh sweet ignition be my fuse
You have no choice you have to choose
Bid farewell to yesterday
Say goodbye I’m on my way

I threw it all away because
I had to be what never was
Been so hungry I could lie
Took my word, I took your wine

And held you in my bloody hands
These rattled bones and rubber bands
Washed them in the muddy water
Looking for a dime and found a quarter

But you can’t make me change my name
They’ll never make me change my name
Pay no mind now ain’t that’s something
Fuck it all I came from nothing

I’m something from nothing
You are my fuse
I’m something from nothing
You are my fuse

It goes oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
It goes oh, oh, oh
All rise!

No you can’t make me change my name
You’ll never make me change my name
Pay no mind no wait that’s something
Fuck it all I came from nothing

I’m something
From nothing
I’m something
From nothing

Death Magnetic – Metallica

Death Magnetic is the 9th studio album released by Metallica in 2008 which was produced by the legendary Rick Rubin.

Death Magnetic was released on this day.

This was the first Metallica album which i really took interest too as i kind of did not like the earlier albums they produced. I thought it was too heavy for me. I was more of a Pink Floyd, Zeppellin lover and Metallica’s heavy trash metal was too much for me. But as i absorbed the new sounds i started to explore old tracks produced by Metallica. For me this was the album which actually introduced Metallica to me.

And i got to witness them live in Bangalore 2011. They played a stellar 2 hour set and it still remains my favourite concert moments. I remember Prasad & I stood for 6 hours in the line before the gates opened so as to get a place in the front rows. And yes we did.

My favourite track from this album is “The Day That Never Comes”.
